The cifX PC card family offers the user a unified standard supporting all Real-Time Ethernet and fieldbus systems for PC-based automation.

The entire protocol stack is processed on the PC card. The process data exchange with the host is executed via Dual-Port-Memory or DMA (Direct Memory Access). Thanks to the uniform Hilscher platform strategy, all PC cards use the same drivers and tools, irrespective of protocol and card format. Communication protocols can be changed easily by loading the appropriate firmware. A rotary switch allows a simple and reliable slot assignment of the PCI and PCI Express card types. Moreover, special types are available, e.g. with integrated NVRAM, 2-channel cards or detached network interface.

A complete software package is always included within the scope of delivery. This package consists of an FDT-based configuration tool (IEC standard) for all products and networks, loadable firmware, documentation, and a driver tool kit.

Whether as Master or Slave, fieldbus systems have been proven themselves excellently in PC-based automation. For more than 10 years, the CIF communication interface cards from the Hilscher Company are used successfully in the most varied areas of application and are now a standard in the market.

PC cards in all formats

With the CIF communication interface, the user will have a unified standard for all the fieldbus systems on different hardware platforms. We supply our PC communication cards with PC/104 respectively PCI busses in standard, PC/104+, PCI-104, Compact PCI or PMC format respectively as PCMCIA card for all leading fieldbus systems.

Communication Interface PC / 104

PROFIBUS-DP slave

The Communication Interface as master on the PROFIBUS network exchanges independently the data between the bus and the internal process image. This is done in the dual-port memory and thus available to the application directly. The configuration is done via the System Configurator SyCon® or directly from the application program. This is stored on the device and is available immediately at the start. The Slave devices are configured via the PROFIBUS network by the master. It only the relevant data is transferred in the process image to the application or is taken from.

Das Verbindungs-Interface führt über ein Flachbandkabel die Signale des Pfostensteckverbinders auf der PC/104 Karte auf normgerechte Steckverbinder an die Gehäusewand. Je nach Variante kann nur der Feldbusanschluß, nur die Diagnoseschnittstelle oder beides herausgeführt werden.
