isolated serial data, or one 4-wire serial communication port for a single channel. Used with a brain or R-series
controller, the module connects serial devices such as printers, scales, chart recorders, and barcode systems to an
Ethernet network for control, monitoring, or data acquisition.
Part of the SNAP PAC System, the module mounts on a SNAP PAC rack with a SNAP PAC brain or rack-mounted
controller. Analog, digital, and serial I/O modules can all be on the same rack. Such an I/O unit is also well suited for
PC-based control or for use as intelligent remote I/O for an Allen-Bradley MicroLogix PLC or other RSLogix-based
system, such as ControlLogix or CompactLogix.
NOTE: The SNAP-SCM-485-422 is also compatible with SNAP Ethernet, SNAP Simple, and SNAP Ultimate brains.
For similar serial communication using RS-232, see SNAP-SCM-232.

* Module performance is limited by the number of serial modules on the SNAP rack. Each rack backplane provides
approximately 2.5 Mbps of bandwidth. ** Maximum number of modules per rack assumes an Opto 22 SNAP power supply and SNAP rack. |
